Only a couple of weeks left until Easter and we’ve got some great DIY projects to inspire that spring-time creativity!! Our stores are now stocked with several styles of sun hats from the simple Floppy Sun Hats to the more styled Lace Trimmed Easter Hats!
Back when I was in grade school we always had these huge Easter parades throughout the halls complete with whimsical hand crafted hats on each student and teacher. The more accessories on these hats the better! We always stacked our straw hats full of plastic eggs, flowers, butterfly embellishments, and birds nests made out of sticks from the back yard! We decided to recreate this Easter bonnet look with a little Kay Boutique flair!! Here’s what you will need: 1. We used our Floppy Sun Hats in assorted colors ($3.25) 2. 18 Gram Marabou Feather Boa in Kelly Green ($2.79) 3. Wholesale Flower Heads (without the clip) 4. Hot Glue Gun
I started by gluing one end of the boa to the back of the hat and continued to wrap it around the base until I could securely glue down the remaining end. Find flowers that match your hat or general color scheme. For this yellow hat I chose Orange 4 Inch Silk Rose Heads and Coral Polka Dot Mini Daisies. Simply glue these flowers into the desired position and keep stacking them up! Remember that Easter Bonnets are meant to be fun and a little wild! This is your “garden”!!
These Floppy Sun Hats come with an attached elastic strap. These chin straps can be easily removed, but come in handy with the additional weight on these fun hats! These inexpensive DIY hats will be a super crafty look for the Kentucky Derby this year as well!!
