Dear Annabelle – I noticed you just put up a lot of embroidered applique patches on Wholesale Girls. Do you have any suggestions for ways to use them that is not just ironing them onto clothing or a bag or something standard like that? Some of them are so CUTE and I thought it would be fun to make them into a more unique craft. Thanks!! – Kristen, Cleveland OH
Great Question Kristen! Our new appliques are certainly easy to iron on to all kinds of garments and accessories, but if you want something really special to do with them, I think I have just the thing! Have you heard of the new “clippie” hair accessory trend? People are making all kinds of cute, tiny clips for little girls out of felt and ribbon. Some of the more popular styles are hand embroidered, but if your embroidery skills could use some improvement (like mine!) these applique patches are just what the doctor ordered. I made two different clippies for you to use as a jumping off point. The first one is kind of a ‘sports’ theme and I imagine it would be great for a fundraiser or a school spirit event. I used a chunky hair bow with a clip, tied some red tulle around it for added texture and hot glued the football applique right onto it. Piece of cake!
I also made these fairy hair clips by hot gluing a piece of pink ribbon onto a grosgrain lined hair clip at a fun angle and then hot gluing the 2 dimensional fairy applique right on top of that! So quick and so cute!
