My three-year-old daughter has the BIGGEST sweet tooth of anyone I know! She just loves all kinds of candies and desserts. Because of this fact it was no surprise when she told me she wanted to be candy or a dessert for Halloween this year. Do you have any ideas on a cute and original costume that could work? I really want it to be something I can put together myself. I am drawing a blank! Thanks! Teri (Blaine, Minnesota)
First, I must agree with your little girl that candy and desserts are delicious! And I think a candy/dessert costume can be simply adorable! I treated myself to a few cookies while I brainstormed a costume idea and this is what I came up with: by putting together different products from our Wholesale Girls store and Little Girl Mart I created a Cute Cotton Candy Costume!
I started with a Crochet Tube Top in Bubblegum Pink and threaded in random length cuts of Pink Tulle to create volume. I let the tulle fold in and around each other to create a messy look similar to the well loved carnival treat.
To add volume to the bottom of the costume and more cotton candy pink I included a 5 Layer tutu in Bubblegum Pink. If you wanted your cotton candy to include some different colors you could try our Two Tone Tutu Skirt Pastels instead.
To complete the cotton candy look I cut out a square of a brown paper bag to make the cone for a hat. I scrunched up a bunch of the pink tulle and stuffed it into cone before it can be attached with hair pins. If you don’t want to go with a hat you could also use one our numerous headbands like our Pink Tulle Puff Headband as a headpiece.
For her feet you could continue the theme of pink by putting her in our Rosette Baby Shoes Pink. The texture of the rosettes would complement the cotton candy look.
