Dear Annabelle,
I saw your blog post about the Minnie Mouse Halloween costume you did a few weeks back. It was really adorable and got me thinking about a costume I could make for my daughter! I am a BIG fan of homemade clothing and costumes so I was curious if you could show me how you’d put together a ghost costume for my daughter? I am drawing a blank on what to do that doesn’t involve just cutting eyes out of a bed sheet. I want her to look cute too! Any help would be great! Thanks! Maricia (Santa Paula, CA)
Hi Maricia!
We are so glad you liked the Minnie Mouse DIY Halloween costume we put together! It was a lot of fun which made us really excited to get your email about putting together a ghost costume! We here at Kay Boutique enjoy a challenge! We collected white items from our stores and starting brainstorming how to turn them into a cute “spooky” ghost.
Here is what we came up with and we must admit we LOVE it!
Our little ghost girl is dressed in one of our Crochet Tube Tops in White with a collar and sleeves made of white tulle. Where the tulle is lopped into the crochet tube top we added a small chunky hair bow with clip. We paired these with a 5 layer tutu in white and a white kufi hat accessorized with a large chunky polka dot hair bow with clip for extra adorableness! For the ghost face we cut out eyes and mouth with black felt and attached them to the top and tutu. We like the added touch of eyelashes to make this ghost more girly.
We did a close up on the adorable Polka Dot Leg Warmers we have beneath the tutu! They are a great match for the polka dot hair bow on her hat! What a great DIY costume!
This entire look can be done for around $10!
We hope your daughter loves her costume and you both have a happy Halloween!
